Thank you for taking the time to visit this website and find out more about the role of Principal at Loreto College.

There is no question that – for the right person – this role will be the most rewarding of your career. Loreto College is a place where you will encounter rich diversity, as well as a tangible sense of shared purpose and values. We’re proud to have been educating young people in Manchester for over 150 years, and we continue to reflect, evaluate and innovate to ensure we tailor our provision to our students’ changing needs, and respond to policy and sector changes.

Our new Principal will play a vital leadership role within and beyond the college, setting high expectations grounded in a culture of support and professional development, and acting as an ambassador for the college and its students in a range of external settings. As well as creating a great learning environment for our students, the college makes an important contribution as part of Manchester’s educational ecosystem, and building positive relationships across the city and beyond – including bodies such as the Association of Catholic Sixth Form Colleges, the Manchester Catholic Education Partnership and the Diocese of Salford – will be a vital part of the role. Our Catholic mission and ethos are at the heart of all that we do.

There’s a great platform from which our new Principal can look to the future with confidence. You’ll meet a highly talented and committed staff group, eager to extend the devolved leadership style that is already enhancing our capacity, and offering colleagues real scope for professional development. We work on a modern campus that has benefited from ongoing investment and care, and which ensures a welcoming and inclusive working and learning environment. Our systems and processes are tried and proven, and support excellent educational outcomes. As a result of prudent leadership, the college is financially resilient, enabling us to plan for the future and ongoing financial stringency. On behalf of our strong and dedicated group of governors, I can assure you of our time, expertise and influence in support of the college’s mission.

We have engaged NavigateNDC to support us through this important appointment. I encourage you to contact David Gooda or Raymond Kelly on 01625 800862 to discuss the role and its requirements in more detail, or to arrange a visit to the College.

I wish you well in your application.

Mary Heaney
Chair of Governors
